Whitewater River Kayaking & Rafting Club for Kids and Teenagers

Have fun kayaking and rafting with friends, improve river paddling and navigational skills, practice stewardship principles, and get volunteer community service hours while you play!

For safety, we will run the rafts and kayaks for the youth club trips together in one group.

PREREQUISITES for RAFTING
No prior river experience is required to raft.  Youths aged 8 and up who are not qualified to kayak, will default to going in a raft with a guide.
PREREQUISITES for KAYAKING
Teens aged 12 and up must have whitewater river kayaking experience and have their skills checked off by us.

If your teenager does not meet this requirement, but they are interested in gaining experience and developing whitewater navigational skills, then please check out our River Guide Training Program, or consider a Private River Kayaking Lesson from one of our experienced instructors.

CLUB SESSION FEE INCLUDES
  • Life jacket
  • Paddle
  • Adult guides and supervision
  • River shuttle service back to our Base Camp in Henefer
  • 2 – 3 hours of paddling time on various whitewater and flatwater sections of the Weber River between Echo and Morgan.
  • Space in a raft, if rafting
  • Single sit-on-top inflatable kayak, if kayaking
AGE GROUPS
  • Rafting: Ages 8 – 18 (no experience required)
  • Kayaking: Teens aged 12 – 18 (must meet our requirements for experience and skills check-off)
SCHEDULE

Tuesday afternoons.  Arrive in Henefer for check-in at 12:30 to be ready for the 1:00 launch.

Sign up for each weekly session that fits your schedule. Payment is required upfront to make the reservation. If your plans change, give us at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel and that session will be fully refundable.

We want this to be accessible to all interested teens. So, instead of payment, teens may trade for an hour of volunteer community service by doing garbage cleanup around the public property at the Taggart River Access Site, before the launch, or after the take-out of each trip. Contact us for more information.

For teens under the age of 18, parents must fill out the waiver form online for the activity date of “Summer Season 2023”.

Our River Stewardship Ethic

Destination Sports, in collaboration with the River Ambassador Program created by Weber River Partnership 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, offers a unique opportunity for kayaking teenagers of the Wasatch Back to paddle the Weber River with qualified adult river guides to chaperone and drive shuttle.  We will be catching eddies as we paddle, to pick up garbage in the river. Catching eddies develops gross-current navigational skills.  Picking up garbage sets a great example to others and it feels great!
